From July 26th to 28th, the High-Level Forum on the Development of Liberal Arts in Colleges and Universities of Western China and the Construction of Chinese language and literature Discipline was grandly held in Hohhot. Wuenqi, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Federation of Social Sciences, Li Wei, member of the Party Committee and Education Working Committee and member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Education Department of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Chaogejin, member of the Academic Council of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Director of the Research Center for the Integration and Dissemination of Northern Frontier Ethnic Language and Culture at IMU, and Cheng Tao, Secretary of the Party Committee of IMU, attended the conference and delivered speeches. More than 40 experts and scholars from many well-known domestic universities and research institutes, such as the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Nanjing University, Jilin University, Minzu University of China, Shaanxi Normal University, Jinan University, Capital Normal University, Henan University, and Guangxi Minzu University, gathered together to provide suggestions for the development and construction of Chinese language and literature discipline. The opening ceremony was hosted by IMU Vice President Da Hubaiyila.
Cheng Tao expressed a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the scholars and experts who have always cared about and supported the development of IMU. He pointed out that IMU is currently experiencing a significant period of development opportunities in the new era. In recent years, the discipline of Chinese language and literature has been continuously producing high-level scientific research and practical results. This high-level forum will undoubtedly lead to the high-quality development of IMU's Chinese language and literature discipline and also write a grand chapter in the development of Chinese language and literature disciplines and majors in colleges and universities of western China.
Li Wei stated in his speech that the Education Department of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region attaches great importance to the construction of liberal arts majors and continuously adjusts and optimizes the layout of liberal arts majors. As a first-class top-notch discipline in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the discipline of Chinese language and literature of IMU has set an example in promoting the cross-integration development of liberal arts and leading the construction of liberal arts majors in region. The Education Department will further support the construction and development of the IMU's Chinese language and literature discipline. It is hoped that taking this forum as an opportunity, the discipline direction will be further condensed, the role of think tanks will be exerted, and the ability of discipline construction and development will be improved.
Wu Enqi emphasized in his speech that the Chinese language and literature discipline should be guided by Xi Jinping's Cultural Thought, take forging a strong sense of community of the Chinese nation as the main line of work, thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, use Research Center for the Integration and Dissemination of Northern Frontier Ethnic Language and Culture to drive interdisciplinary integration and development, and make contributions to building a disciplinary system, academic system, and discourse system of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics.
Chao Gejin expressed that the development of disciplines should fully combine the opportunities of the times with their actual situation. The construction of Chinese language and literature discipline should fully demonstrate people-centered awareness.He hoped that all participating scholars and experts can work together to provide suggestions for the higher-level construction of IMU's Chinese language and literature discipline, radiating and driving the progress of Chinese language and literature disciplines in regional universities, and contributing to the construction of the Chinese language and literature disciplines of colleges and universities of western China.
Da Hubaiyila briefly introduced the construction situation of IMU's Chinese language and literature discipline. He said that the Chinese language and literature discipline of IMU has a good academic tradition and profound humanistic background. Since the last round of discipline evaluation, IMU has actively integrated resources to promote the high-quality development of the Chinese language and literature discipline, achieving good results with rich outcomes and outstanding talents, presenting a distinctive and vibrant trend in cultural inheritance and innovation.
This forum was divided into four sections: opening ceremony, keynote speeches, argumentation on the Chinese folk literature discipline, and discipline and major construction.
The keynote speech session was chaired by Chao Gejin. Prof. Du Guiping, convener of the evaluation group of Chinese language and literature discipline of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, Prof. Zhong Jinwen, member of the evaluation group of Chinese language and literature discipline of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and member of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Chinese language and literature majors of the Ministry of Education, Prof. Mi Yanqing, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Journalism of IMU, and Prof. Wu Yingzhe, Dean of the School of Mongolian Studies of IMU, successively gave speeches. They conducted in-depth exchanges around the historical evolution, disciplinary characteristics, opportunities of the times and future development of the Chinese language and literature discipline, and combined with the transformation of talent training models under the background of new liberal arts, bringing high-level viewpoints and sharing.
In the afternoon, two sessions were held: "Argumentation on the Chinese Folk Literature Discipline" and "Discipline and Major Construction Discussion". Prof. Wu Jun of Nanjing University and Prof. Zuo Dongling of Capital Normal University chaired the conferences respectively. The participating experts and scholars had in-depth exchanges and discussions around the forum topics with a particularly enthusiastic atmosphere at the venue.
This forum was held on the fifth anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping's inspection of IMU, which is of great significance for IMU's Chinese language and literature discipline to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions. It not only provides a broader perspective and more concrete guidance for the construction of IMU's Chinese language and literature discipline, but also provides stronger support and a firmer impetus for the long-term development of Chinese language and literature disciplines in colleges and universities of western China.
