From July 19th to 21st, the first management work meeting of Inner Mongolia Regional Liaison Network of National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC) in 2024 was held in Tongliao City. This meeting was hosted by IMU and undertaken by Inner Mongolia Minzu University. Yang Hengshan, member of the Party Committee and vice president of Inner Mongolia Minzu University, and Hudute, Director of the Basic Research Department of the Science and Technology Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, attended. Over 50 scientific fund managers from 42 relying units of the National Natural Science Foundation within the Inner Mongolia regional liaison network participated in the meeting, which was presided over by Liu Quansheng, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department of IMU.

At the opening ceremony, Yang Hengshan expressed his welcome to all relying units within the regional liaison network to attend and exchange at Inner Mongolia Minzu University. He introduced the founding history, general situation and scientific research achievements of Inner Mongolia Minzu University in recent years, analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of scientific research development in the region where the university is located, and expressed his expectation that other colleges and universities will further guide and help the scientific research work of Inner Mongolia Minzu University in the future.

Hudute introduced the project establishment situation of Inner Mongolia Natural Science Foundation in 2024, focused on interpreting the solicitation and recommendation of guide suggestions for the regional innovation development joint fund of the National Natural Science Foundation in the next year, and explained the situation of strengthening basic research and increasing funding input in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 2024.

Yue Liqing, head of the Project Management Office of IMU’s Science and Technology Department, introduced the spirit of the 2024 National Natural Science Foundation application acceptance work summary meeting and interpreted the project funding management system of the National Natural Science Foundation. Gu Shenjie, Director of the Basic Research Department of the Scientific Research Institute of Northwest A&F University, Qi Hong, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department of Tianjin Medical University, A Rong, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, and Zhang Qingshan, Director of the Science and Technology Department of Inner Mongolia Minzu University made exchange speeches on the overall situation of scientific research in their respective units, the application situation of the National Natural Science Foundation in 2024, and experience in scientific research management.

In the afternoon, the participants from various relying units visited the Xiliao River Civilization Exhibition Hall, Mongolian Medicine Exhibition Hall and University History Museum of Inner Mongolia Minzu University. Following the visit, the participants from various relying units had extensive and enthusiastic discussions on the deepening reform of the National Natural Science Foundation and the latest changes in application policies, scientific fund projects and fund management. Finally, Liu Quansheng made a concluding speech, pointing out that all relying units within the Inner Mongolia regional liaison network should focus on foundational research issues related to major strategic needs at both national and regional levels, organize research activities around the National Natural Science Foundation, strive to tap the potential of undertaking scientific fund projects, open up a new situation of the National Natural Science Foundation in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, thereby continuously enhancing the level and strength of basic research in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
