Recently, Dr. Yang Lei and Associate Professor Zhao Shu from the School of Foreign Languages of our University, published an academic paper entitled "AI-Induced Emotions in L2 Education: Exploring EFL Students’ Perceived Emotions and Regulation Strategies " in Computers in Human Behavior (Top of SSCI Zone 1, Chinese Academy of Sciences), an authoritative journal in the field of human-computer interaction. The academic paper is the first one for the foreign language and literature discipline of our school to publish in this journal.

In recent times, artificial intelligence has been gaining more and more attention among second language researchers. However, the emotional impact of AI-assisted instruction on English learners remains an unstudied area. To fill this gap, this study used qualitative methods to reveal the affective perception and corresponding affective regulation strategies of 498 Chinese English learners in AI-assisted second language education, and collected data through open questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The results of the MAXQDA analysis showed that Chinese English learners experienced a wide range of positive and negative emotions in AI-assisted second language education. In addition, the study found that participants utilized different antecedent focusing and response focusing strategies to regulate their AI-induced emotions.

Computers in Human Behavior is an academic journal devoted to study computer usage from the perspective of psychology. It is included in the SSCI database. The journal is one of the Top journals in the Zone 1 of Psychology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and belongs to the Q1 Zone in the field of psychological experiment and multidisciplinary psychology. The latest journal impact factor is 9.9 (updated December 2023).

Dr. Yang Lei, a young teacher of our university, is the first author of the paper, and Associate Professor Zhao Shu is the corresponding author. The research was supported by the "Inner Mongolia University Young Talents" talent introduction project.
