On June 8th, our university held the unveiling ceremony of the the Institute of Advanced Studies of Ethnic Classics and the high-level forum on the construction of the discipline of Chinese ethnology in the new era in Conference Room 8 of the Academic Conference Center of Saihan Campus. More than 200 people, including Liu Zhiyu, Secretary of the University Party Committee, President Wu Limin, Vice Presidents Du Fenglian and Dahu Baiyila, and experts, scholars, doctoral students from more than 20 universities, research institutes, and related units inside and outside the region, including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Zhejiang University, Lanzhou University, Nanjing University, Qinghai Minzu University, Central Minzu University, China's First Historical Archives, Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences, Inner Mongolia Normal University, Hohhot Minzu College, attended the meeting. The opening ceremony of the meeting was presided over by Vice President Dahu Baiyila.

At the opening ceremony, Liu Zhiyu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, delivered a speech. He said that Inner Mongolia University, as an important university in the border ethnic minority areas, undertakes the important mission of enhancing and practicing the theory of the consciousness of the Chinese nation community. By constructing the high-end platform of Institute of Advanced Studies of Ethnic Classics, we hope to achieve the introduction of high-end talents and the improvement of our ability in academic research, scientific innovation and social services. We also aim to be able to undertake major national key projects, and to produce major achievements, by which we could expand our academic influence at home and abroad. With the missions that the Times endowed us, we want to build a high-end institute of advanced studies of Ethnology based on academic frontier, which has great international influence. Thus, we can improve the core competitiveness of the ethnology discipline of Inner Mongolia University, and serve the major strategic needs of the country and autonomous region, then contribute great wisdom and strength to the ethnological research of China and the research of Chinese studies in the world.

President Wu Limin read out the decision to establish the Institute of Advanced Studies of Ethnic Classics, and appointed Wuyun Biliger, a special professor of the Changjiang Scholars Award Program of the Ministry of Education, as the dean of the Institute of Advanced Studies of Ethnic Classics.

Professor Yang Qingzhong, Dean of the School of Chinese Studies of Renmin University of China, expressed his congratulations on the establishment of the Institute of Advanced Studies of Ethnic Classics in his speech, and said that the School of Chinese Classics of Renmin University of China should carry out all-round cooperation with the Institute of Advanced Studies of Ethnic Classics of our university to write a new chapter for the development of the cause of Chinese classics and cast a strong sense of community of the Chinese nation.

Wu Enqi, Party secretary and chairman of the Social Science Federation of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Bao Yinshan, President of the Academy of Social Sciences of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Yang Qingzhong, dean of the School of International Studies of Renmin University of China, Liu Zhiyu, Secretary of the Party Committee of our school, Wu Limin, president of the Institute of Advanced Studies of Ethnic Classics of our school, Wuyun Bilige jointly unveiled the Institute of Advanced Studies.

Professor Wuyun Bilige expressed sincere gratitude to the experts and professors who supported the establishment of our university's Institute of Advanced Studies in Ethnic Classics and guided the construction of our university's ethnic disciplines. He hopes that through his own and team's joint efforts, the Institute of Advanced Studies in Ethnic Classics at Inner Mongolia University can be built into a first-class institute of advanced studies in ethnic classics, contributing to the progress and development of Chinese classical studies and world Chinese studies and the sense of community for the Chinese nation.

After the unveiling ceremony, a high-level forum with the theme of "Tasks, Methods and Paths for the construction of Chinese Ethnology in the New Era" was held.

Experts and scholars attending the meeting had in-depth discussions and exchanges on comprehensively implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping's important ideas on strengthening and improving ethnic work, forging a sense of community for the Chinese nation, accelerating the formation of a Chinese independent historical, discourse, and theoretical system for the Chinese nation community, focusing on the northern border region, leveraging the role of Inner Mongolia University's Institute of Ethnic Classics, promoting the overall construction level of the discipline of ethnology to achieve upgrading, gathering strength and wisdom, and creating a first-class brand of ethnology.

After the establishment of the Institute of Advanced Studies in Ethnic Classics, it will focus on the two basic points of multilingual ancient books, archival documents, and Chinese language research, and explore, utilize, and study various ethnic language ancient books that reflect the diversity and unity of the Chinese nation and the joint creation of national history, territory, culture, and spirit by various ethnic groups. It will conduct in-depth research on the multi-ethnic and multilingual texts, literature, and classics of relevant cultural regions in northern Xinjiang. Explore the history of communication, exchange, and integration among the Chinese nation contained in ancient literature, investigate the roles of various ethnic groups in the formation of Chinese civilization, and explore the reality of classical Chinese civilization.
